Did you know that God has a plan for your life? "Not mine," you say, "God doesn't care about me." Actually God cares more about you than you care about yourself. God not only cares about you but He loves you very much. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." You see, God loves you so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you so that you can have everlasting life. From God's Word we find the way of being able to receive everlasting life.
1. First, we must understand that we are all sinners. Rom 3:10 says, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" God says that no one is righteous, or perfect. Rom 3:12 says, "there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Though many people and religions will tell you that you can get to heaven by being a good person, God says that there is no one who is good. You may be better than someone else around you, but when you compare yourself to God you will find that you are not good. Rom 3:23a says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Notice that word "all". Every person who has ever been born is a sinner. We sin against God and because of our sins we are not able to reach Him.
2. Second, we must understand that there is a payment for our sin. Rom 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death;" Notice that it is because of our sin that we are condemned to death. This not only means physical death, but eternal separation from God forever in the Lake of Fire, Rev 20:15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
3. Third, we must understand God's love for us. As was said before, God loves you so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins, Rom 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died in your place because He knew that you and I could never pay enough for God to remove our sins. It is only through Jesus' perfect life and death that He is able to take away our sins, Colossians 1:14 says, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:"
4. Fourth, if you believe that you are a sinner and that because of your sins your punishment is death and hell, but now you understand God's love for you and you would like to be saved from your sins, then notice what the Bible says. Rom 10:9-10 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Rom 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." If you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He is the only One who can save you from your sins, then God says to call upon His name and you will be saved. No church, pastor, family member or friend can save you. It is only Jesus Christ who can save you from your sin and give you eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Romans 6:23b says "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." God says that you can only be saved by putting your faith, or trust, in Jesus Christ. Eternal life is a gift from God that cannot be bought or worked for. You must choose whether you will accept His gift and trust in Him, or reject His gift and trust in something else to take you to heaven. The choice is yours. If you would like to accept Jesus Christ as the only One who can take away your sin and give you eternal life then just pray a simple prayer to Him confessing to Him that you are a sinner and that you believe in your heart that Jesus is the only One who can remove your sin and ask Him to give you His gift of eternal life.
